摘要: HIV infection can be effectively treated by lifelong administration of combination antiretroviral therapy, but an effective vaccine will likely required to end the epidemic. Although majority current strategies focus on induction neutralizing antibodies, there is substantial evidence that cellular immunity mediated CD8+ T cells sustain long-term disease-free and transmission-free control may harnessed induce both therapeutic preventive antiviral effects. In this Review, we discuss increasing derived from individuals who spontaneously without therapy as well preclinical immunization studies provide a clear rationale for renewed efforts develop cell-based in conjunction with B cell efforts. Further, outline remaining challenges translating these findings into viable prevention, treatment cure strategies.
