摘要: Synthetic solvent systems for the fine-tuned preparation of CdS nanocrystallites, active in visible-light photocatalytic hydrogen production, were studied. To control crystallite size and spectral properties, crystals synthesised by using different systems, containing a series tetrabutylammonium amino carboxylate ionic liquids as crystal-growth agents. Six samples CdS, all with similar physical exhibited greatly varying activity, most sample outperforming least one almost 60%. rationalise this effect, intermolecular interactions synthesis system growing nanocrystallites characterised Reichart betaine dye E(T)(N) polarity scale. A correlation was observed between values activity nanocrystallite, suggesting that hydrogen-bond-donating ability and/or dipolarity/polarisability led to preferential formation surfaces/surface sites on crystals.
