摘要: Abstract Phytol, a natural linear diterpene fatty alcohol present in the integral part of chlorophyll is found copious amounts aquatic weed Hydrilla verticillata. It widely used as precursor for manufacture vitamins E and K its worldwide demand 0.1–1.0 metric tons/year. High hydrophobicity phytol intended use surfactant various applications. Hence, main objective this study to separate from ethanolic extract verticillata an anionic surfactant. Phytochemical analysis revealed presence alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, saponins terpenoids. FTIR spectral confirmed different functional groups such amides, alcohol, phenol, phosphorus halogen compounds extract. HPLC fingerprint profile hydrilla showed that phytol, major phytochemical crude Thin layer chromatography determine proper solvent system performing separations using column effective separation achieved with mixture Toluene: Ethyl Acetate ratio 7:3. Column done partial purification fractions are analyzed by UV–Visible spectroscopy. The purified subjected sulphonation convert it into sulphate which possess activity. concentration assessed Methylene Blue Active Substances (MBAS) assay. Phytol potent disinfectant antibacterial activity against E. coli. Since source renewable, availability abundance less risk factor can be great asset humankind.
