摘要: Terpenoids constitute one of the most numerous and structurally varied chemical group natural products (>40,000) broadly abundant in plant kingdom. Among them, sesquiterpenoids other related low mass terpenoids encompass a largely studied widely distributed subgroup. Apart from their essential physiological role organisms, these secondary metabolites demonstrate important physicochemical biological properties, enabling exploitation as medicinal, cosmetic, or agrochemical agents. Mainly owing to unique structural features, they comprise highly promising area among and, especially, discovery novel pharmacological active compounds. During this effort, several analytical techniques, approaches, methodologies have been applied, new lately introduced. In chapter, main techniques that are incorporated analysis small presented with emphasis recent advances approaches. Specifically, extraction separation for characterization, detection identification compounds discussed using examples kingdom.
