摘要: Objective To develop and test the psychometric properties of a 25-list-item version National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire (NEI VFQ-25). Design Prospective observational cohort study persons with 1 5 chronic eye diseases or low vision who were scheduled for nonurgent visits in ophthalmology practices reference sample without disease. Setting Eleven university-based NEI Clinical Center. Patients Eligible participants had to have following conditions: age-related cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, primary open-angle glaucoma, cytomegalovirus retinitis, from any cause. Seven 12 sites also enrolled sample. Reference no evidence underlying disease but either screening examinations correction refractive error. All eligible be 21 years older, English speaking, cognitively able give informed consent participate health status interview. Measurements Main Results provide data needed create VFQ-25, all subjects completed an interview that included 51-list-item VFQ. Estimates internal consistency indicate subscales VFQ-25 are reliable. The validity is supported by high correlations between short- long-form versions measure, observed between-group differences scores different varying severity, moderate-to-high most do central measured visual acuity. Conclusions reliability comparable those VFQ field survey. This shorter will more feasible settings such as clinical trials where length critical consideration. In addition, preliminary analyses robust conditions studied; this suggests measure reproducible valid when used across multiple severity.
