摘要: Lower alkanoates, alkyl sulfates, and alkylbenzenesulfonates behave as hydrotropes, while those with longer chains are micellar. We address the question of how long should chain be in order for to switch from hydrotropy micellar behavior. While surface tension solubilization properties show a transition into micellar-type behavior beyond pentylbenzenesulfonate, microenvironmental features do not any clear break between hydrotropes micelles. The answer thus seems depend on method used monitor properties.
