摘要: Lateral ankle sprains (LASs) are the most prevalent musculoskeletal injury in physically active populations. They also have a high prevalence general population and pose substantial healthcare burden. The recurrence rates of LASs high, leading to large percentage patients with LAS developing chronic instability. This chronicity is associated decreased physical activity levels quality life associates increasing post-traumatic osteoarthritis, all which generate financial costs that larger than many realised. literature review follows expands this paradigm introduces emerging areas should be prioritised for continued research, supporting companion position statement paper proposes recommendations using summary information, needs specific future research.
