摘要: Objectives Commercial sex is licensed in Victoria, Australia such that workers are required to have regular tests for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). However, the incidence and prevalence of STIs very low, especially since there almost universal condom use at work. We aimed conduct a cost-effectiveness analysis financial cost testing policy versus health benefits averting transmission HIV, syphilis, chlamydia gonorrhoea clients. Methods developed simple mathematical model, informed by conservative parameter estimates from all available data, linked analysis. Results estimated under current rates, it costs over $A90 000 screening every infection averted (and $A600 000 each quality-adjusted life year (QALY) saved) $A4 000 000 HIV ($A10 000 000 QALY saved). At an assumed willingness pay $A50 000 per gained, should not be conducted less than approximately 40 weeks once year; comparison, requirements 12 weeks 4 weeks chlamydia. Conclusions Mandatory female frequencies cost-effective prevention disease their male The rate Victoria excessive. Screening intervals based on local STI epidemiology locked legislation.
