摘要: Abstract Bidirectional interactions between sleep and epilepsy are known since antiquity, however only the introduction of method electroencephalography (EEG) in 1929 contributed to objectively investigate further unravel these obvious clinical relationships. Despite increasing evidence over last century, certain aspects still incompletely or not well understood. This article discusses influence on adult focal as assessed via EEG, highlights new developments decade regarding microstructure markers epileptogenic zone such high-frequency oscillations >80 Hz. It describes obtained from invasive intracranial this is a unique assess directly cortical activity superficial deep structures human brain. Important achievements were how epileptic modulated by sleep, underlining role slow waves enhance activity, demonstrate that seizure types differently affected show may be useful better identify for surgery drug-resistant epilepsy.
