Dietary intake and nutritional indicators are transiently compromised during radiotherapy for rectal cancer

摘要: Patients with rectal cancer receive curative radiotherapy towards the pelvis for 5 weeks. Little is known about impact of on dietary intake and nutritional status. The objective was to examine whether promoted altered energy nutrients, change in indicators. Prospective study. Department Oncology a tertiary care hospital. A total 31 consecutive patients receiving (50 Gray). 7-day food registration, body weight, upper arm circumference, analyses blood samples were performed at start end radiotherapy, follow-up 4–6 weeks 1 year after radiotherapy. At mean daily reduced by 15% from 8.9 7.6 MJ as compared baseline (P=0.002), several nutrients (P<0.01). percentages derived fat, protein, carbohydrates did not change, nor nutrient density. transient weight reduction of<1 kg observed (P=0.009).
