摘要: Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) is known to play a primary role in protecting freshwater organisms from exposure UV radiation (Scully and Lean 1994). Recent observations lakes subjected acidification with strong acids, climatic warming drought have revealed that both perturbations cause DOC decline, suggesting were jeopardizing ecosystems by allowing increasing of communities (Schindler et al. 1996a, b; Yan 1996; Williamson etal. 1996). From November 4-7, 1994, small group marine scientists Canada, the USA Europe met at Palisades Center Jasper National Park, Alberta, compare results their studies DOC-UV interactions budgets characteristics different regions. Environment Canada University Alberta funded workshop, which was hosted Parks Canada. This volume contains papers based on presentations workshop. Here, we present brief overview papers, other recently published this rapidly developing field, implications for ecosystems.
