On the New Absorption Bands of the Oxygen Molecule in the Far Ultraviolet Region

摘要: The absorption bands of the oxygen molecule in extreme ultraviolet region were studied using a 3‐meter grazing incidence vacuum spectrograph. Two new progressions found between 1200A and 1290A (one which is considered to be member Rydberg series converging first ionization potential molecule). There also observed few short continua near wavelength end Schumann‐Runge continuum. behavior three strong diffuse bands, at 1200∼1290A, pressures ranging from 0.01 several mm Hg. Assuming diffuseness these as being due predissociation, existence atoms 1S metastable states upper atmosphere briefly discussed.
