摘要: To the Editor.— The Journalcontinues to challenge status quo and stimulate professional introspection. I have just read commentary by Dr Moore 1 entitled "The Need for a Patient Advocate." Never felt so offended colleague. As senior medical resident, spent 7 challenging rewarding years in an attempt become physician. What, may ask, is any physician if not foremost patient advocate? Am naive? profession of medicine under siege on many fronts. I, too, share Moore's concerns about new conflicting roles that physicians are increasingly asked play. It seems clear me only vigilant preservation advocacy role all will we ever weather storm. When did throw towel?
