The growth of coral reef science in the Gulf: a historical perspective.

摘要: Coral reef science has grown exponentially in recent decades the Gulf. Analysis of literature from 1950 to 2012 identified 270 publications on coral reefs Gulf, half which were published just past decade. This paper summarizes growth and evolution Gulf by examining when, where how research been conducted reefs, who that research, what themes taxa have dominated scientific interest. The results demonstrate there significant our understanding valuable but also highlight fact we are documenting an increasingly degraded ecosystem. Reef scientists must make a concerted effort improve dialogue with regional management decision-makers if stem tide decline
