摘要: Oceans are a vast source of natural substances. In them, we find various compounds with wide biotechnological and biomedical applicabilities. The exploitation the sea as renewable biocompounds can have positive impact on development new systems devices for applications. Marine polysaccharides among most abundant materials in seas, which contributes to decrease extraction costs, besides their solubility behavior aqueous solvents media, interaction other biocompounds. Polysaccharides such alginate, carrageenan fucoidan be extracted from algae, whereas chitosan hyaluronan obtained animal sources. Most marine important biological properties biocompatibility, biodegradability, anti-inflammatory activity, well adhesive antimicrobial actions. Moreover, they modified order allow processing them into shapes sizes may exhibit response dependence external stimuli, pH temperature. Due these properties, biomaterials been studied raw material construction carrier drugs, including particles, capsules hydrogels. designed achieve controlled release therapeutic agents an attempt fight against serious diseases, used advanced therapies, gene delivery or regenerative medicine.
