摘要: The puma (Felis concolor) has the most extensive range of any terrestrial mammal in Western Hemisphere, covering over 100° latitude. Food habits different subspecies vary with Subspecies from temperate habitats generally eat larger prey and specialize on a smaller number taxa, whereas, tropical habitats, they smaller, more varied prey. In North America, ungulates (primarily deer) represented 68% puma's diet by frequency occurrence. Mean weight vertebrate (MWVP) was positively correlated (r=0.875) body inversely (r=-0.836) food niche breadth all America. general, MWVP lower areas closer to Equator. Patterns selection are probably influenced availability vulnerability, habitat characteristics, potential competition jaguar (Panthera onca).
