摘要: Sound features are blended together en route to the central nervous system before being discriminated for further processing by cortical synaptic network. The mechanisms underlying this processing, however, largely unexplored. Intracortical of auditory signal was investigated simultaneously recording from pairs connected principal neurons in layer II/III slices A1 cortex. Physiological patterns stimulation presynaptic cell revealed two populations postsynaptic events that differed mean amplitude, failure rate, kinetics and short-term plasticity. In contrast, transmission between pyramidal barrel cortex were uniformly large amplitude high success (release) probability (Pr). These unique may provide distinct discerning separating transient stationary at an early stage processing.
