摘要: Remanufacturing, long perceived as an environmentally friendly initiative, is supported by a number of governments. Yet, the assumption that remanufacturing desirable to society has never been systematically investigated. In this paper, we examine effectiveness and eco-efficiency in personal computer mobile phone industries. We investigate whether substantially reduces environmental impact, measured cumulative energy demand (CED), generated over life cycles (LCs) these products, size any reduction. also relative compared with virgin manufacturing for two where includes both willingness-to-pay (WTP) products well consumed producing products. Our main findings are following. One, effective way reduce total during LCs computers phones, one notable exception, when spans remanufactured shorter than their new counterparts. Two, or not always more eco-efficient corresponding product. Three, WTP consequently, eco-efficiencies, function prices correspondent at launch years elapsed between remanufacturing. Four, units sold discount price phones. Five, on whole, market phones Six, computers. Lastly, because group heterogeneous, all average phone. conclude discussion impact our European WEEE WEEE-like legislation.
