摘要: Earlier reports have suggested that low-dose ionizing irradiation might be involved in induction of intracranial meningiomas. One the problems evaluating irradiation-induced neoplasms is belief these tumors no distinguishing features to indicate their etiology. In an attempt identify such meningiomas following irradiation, a group 42 post-irradiation (PIM's) has been compared with 84 non-PIM control These PIM's included all diagnosed at Hadassah University Hospital during years 1952 1981 individuals treated childhood x-ray therapy for tinea capitis. Although individual PIM does not seem differ from "spontaneous" meningioma, this study indicates as distinct characteristics, namely, location site maximal and suggesting rapid growth aggressive biological behavior. There was significantly higher number calvarial (p less than 0.001), high proportion multiple meningiomas, recurrence rate apparent complete excision 0.02), increased histologically malignant 0.01). The demonstration distinguish other etiology supports suggestion pathogenesis tumors.
