摘要: Summary. Catalogues from 1582 to the present of Etnean eruptions and earthquakes various structural zones southern Italy have been statistically compared using non-stationary Poisson statistics in order search for correlative seismic eruptive activity. A significant relationship exists between flank zone immediately surrounding volcano. Also, crater are found occur before which not preceded by earthquakes. They do not, however, appear be correlated with Earthquakes different largely independent each other. The results suggest two mechanisms Etna. Those that presumed caused magma pressure within Etna’s storage reservoir. Whereas those thought due fracturing tensile forces associated east-west extension eastern Sicily. existence earthquake-related volcanism is consistent models attribute extensional tectonism lithospheric faulting
