摘要: Marital status has been recognized as a significant health-influencing factor, including cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. The aim of the present paper was to evaluate whether eating habits mediate relationship between marital and levels CVD risk factors among apparently healthy men women from ATTICA Study. During 2001-2002, we randomly enrolled 1514 (18-87 years old) 1528 (18-89 Attica area, Greece; sampling stratified by age-gender distribution region. Participants underwent clinical, anthropometric psychological assessment. Food consumption assessed through semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. were classified never married, divorced widowed. Discriminant analysis revealed that vegetable consumption, followed red meat, potatoes, poultry, soft drinks with higher discriminating ability groups studied. In particular, dietary patterns married participants characterized potatoes those nuts, legumes fish, fruits, cereals drinks, whereas widowed dairy, vegetables, sweets poultry. addition, reported fast-foods more frequently drink less alcohol compared or participants. After controlling for potential confounders (i.e., age, gender, physical activity, anxiety score smoking habits), associated only body mass index total serum cholesterol levels. When repeated after taking into account information on creating four "new" dietary-adjusted groups, no association blood This finding implies that, in our population, may explain observed differences selected factors.
