摘要: Because porosity can affect a wide range of performance attributes in vessels, its measurement has become an important component ceramic technological studies. To measure porosity, archaeologists have borrowed well-established methods from the material sciences. However, these drawbacks for archaeological applications including potential to damage residues contained within sherd, need expensive equipment, and/or use hazardous materials. In this paper we introduce new, non-destructive method measuring based on infusion liquid nitrogen into sherd. A comparison results obtained with those other approaches indicates that technique produces reliable results.
