摘要: The manipulation of molecules at the nanoscale (nanotechnologies) is not really a new technology in food production, but it causing concern because parallels drawn by some between potential health effects nanoparticles (NPs) and known inhaled ultrafine air pollutants pathogenic fibers (e.g., asbestos). From perspective, assessment risks associated with NPs will depend on better understanding their pharmacokinetics (factors that determine extent absorption from gastrointestinal tract, distribution to tissues, clearance). Current regulatory practices most jurisdictions should be capable managing these risks, provided issue potentially novel functionality recognized.
