Laguna de Sayula, a seasonal freshwater wetland in Jalisco, western Mexico, supports many resident and migratory bird species, particularly during the dry season (October to May). We documented changes habitat condition (i.e., water vs. mudflat land cover) occur- rences of 12 waterbird species season. From October February, much lagoon was covered with mudflats, avifauna dominated by killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) long-billed curlew (Numenius americanus). Between March May, there significantly less area spotted sandpiper (Actitis macularia) were most common. Species tended co-occur plots, often large numbers, suggesting that they tracking patchy resources within study area.
