Relationships of asthma knowledge, self-management, and social support in African American adolescents with asthma

摘要: Despite nationwide efforts to manage asthma, the adverse outcomes of asthma continue increase, especially in African American adolescents. The purpose this study was examine relationships among knowledge, self-management, and social support adolescents with asthma. A correlational descriptive conducted using a convenience sample 53 identified asthmatic from Southern metropolitan school system Alabama. Asthma knowledge measured by Parcel Knowledge about Questionnaire, Norbeck Social Support self-management behaviors Behavioral Assessment Questionnaire. Both had significant positive (r=0.31, r=0.30, respectively) accounted for 14% variability. Further studies are needed understand how better
