摘要: Laser Scanning for Facility Management is becoming more popular, and current efforts to integrate laser scanning, Building Information Modeling (BIM) Construction Operations information exchange (COBie) tend focus on creating a BIM first. Since this can be very cumbersome repetitive task, research explores the possibility completely omit reconstruction proposes systematic approach obtain COBie data directly from scans. The method used in an explorative design representative case study, which relies qualitative foundation provided by literature. Previous studies indicate that scans (point clouds) do not have semantic structure corresponding data-driven approaches are limited knowledge representations about shapes if no prior model libraries or ontologies available. An in-depth study of Cooling Plant Qatar was conducted understand COBie’s characteristics, test proposed point cloud processing field data. Analysis shows mainly identities objects spaces relationship between them, lacking definitions geometry. Contrary expectations literature analysis findings after using our show it possible clouds even due its difference representations. By as-built as reference, these were validated discussed. scope narrowed down shape representations, several suggestions further presented order fully explore potential offer. Summarizing, main contributions are: (1) discovers substantiates state-of-art advances processing, (2) uses standard proposing straightforward (3) extends existing bodies provides useful stepping stones research.
