Design National Central Bureau Statistics investigates annually living conditions by means interviews trained persons. data analysed stepwise logistic regression calculation adjusted relative risks. Subjects In investigation 1988/89, 12,901 people above 16 years age participated response rate was 80%. Results comparison investigations, prevalence reported impairment lower 1988/89 than 1975 1980/81. Prevalence chewing increased with ageing from 2% young adults (16-34 old) 44% older elderly (> 85 old). most groups, edentulous highest prevalence, dentate lowest.
