摘要: A method of operating a position encoder apparatus, comprising scale having features defining information and readhead for reading the scale. The comprises: calculating extrapolated from at least one previous scale; comparing an with calculated to determine any discrepancy between them; using whether or not there is discrepancy; maintaining record discrepancies.
