摘要: In addition to environmental factors, social variables such as group size may play an important role in explaining primate ranging patterns. this study we investigated range sizes, site fidelity, and overlaps of owl monkeys (Aotus azarae) Northern Argentina. We calculated the home core areas for 18 groups our area. For six most intensively studied tested whether precipitation a crude proxy food availability or had influence on size, assessed degree fidelity by quantifying annual ranges areas, amount overlap between neighboring each year. used kernel density estimation method calculate 90% 50% kernel. Home (mean ± SD) was 6.2 ha (± 1.8) area 1.9 0.6). Rainfall were not statistically significant predictors sizes. Site high, with 82% 11) consecutive years. Neighboring overlapped over 48% 15) outer parts their 11% areas. found no evidence that larger occupy than smaller groups, suggesting might be above critical threshold so do need extend foraging meet energy requirements. Our findings indicate remain stable several years visit same locations fruit trees within range. showed exhibit considerable overlap. However, suggest spatial rather temporal, which maximizes access clumped feeding resources overlapping are at distinct times, while excluding other males from females exclusively
