摘要: Background: Raising a child with intellectual disability (ID) can add to parenting stress significantly. This manifest into psychopathologies such as anxiety and depression. The aims of the study were assess psychopathology coping mechanisms in parents children ID. Materials Methods: A total 100 consecutive consenting ID interviewed from psychiatry outpatient department municipal-run tertiary care teaching hospital. semi-structured pro forma, symptom checklist 90 revised (SCL90R) Mechanism Coping Scale (MOCS) used for assessment. Results: Mean age was 37.02 (±7.35) years, children, it 8.29 (±3.11) years. There 60 mothers 61 male among sample. Eighty-five considered their child's be major concern life. Depression had highest mean psychopathologies. Mothers higher score depression Interpersonal-sensitivity. Parental did not differ significantly severity child. Global index SCL90R correlated negatively (P = 0.015) positively fatalism 0.004), expressive-action Conclusion: is most common especially Psychopathology independent worsens like fatalism, expressive-action, escape-avoidance. should seen treated family unit giving enough attention parent's psychological needs well.
