摘要: The incidence and prevalence of dry eye disease (DED) after cataract surgery is greatly underestimated. severity symptoms has been reported to peak 7 days may persist for months, significantly affecting patients’ quality life (QoL). importance considering surgical outcomes not only in terms visual acuity, but also the QoL, necessitates assessment evaluation ocular surface by surgeon prior procedure. This narrative review, drafted P.I.C.A.S.S.O. (Italian Partners Correction Ocular Surface Alterations) board, analyses physiopathology post-cataract DED highlights pre-, intra- postoperative risk factors that alter homeostasis; it proposes a practical comprehensive algorithm prevention, treatment management associated with surgery. Particular attention needs be paid pre- intraoperative reduce improve outcome.
