摘要: Abstract The Rcs phosphorelay, consisting of a hybrid sensor kinase, phosphotransferase, and response regulator, regulates large number bacterial functions. These include capsule production, the target originally defined for these regulators, small regulatory RNA, growing list additional genes, many unknown function. At core this phosphorelay is regulator RcsB that activates expression genes. In addition to RcsB, some but not all targets require co‐regulator. One such co‐regulator RcsA, which has been described as working except with RcsB; RcsA itself regulated at both transcriptional post‐transcriptional levels. Signaling system also complex, numerous plasmids, mutations, environmental conditions have activating system. Activation on cell surfaces nature functions suggest role in biofilm formation. Here, we describe reporters mutants allow genetic dissection from two directions. cases where condition system, instance, causing an increase synthesis (a phenotype easily observed colonies), specific tests can identify what stage signal feeds into identified, define requirements regulation target. Finally, overproduction interferes other studies, study cells absence
