摘要: Introduction Serial body casting plays an important role in the treatment of early onset scoliosis (EOS), serving as a safer method compared to surgical intervention. There is no published evidence documenting impact on health-related quality life (HRQoL) patients and their caregivers. The purpose this study was utilize 24-Item Early Onset Scoliosis Questionnaire (EOSQ-24) compare HRQoL with EOS burden care for caregivers before, during, after Mehta casting. Methods In multicenter retrospective cohort study, two databases were queried who underwent serial from 2005 2016. Patients had prior initial cast application, including bracing or intervention, excluded study. stratified into subgroups analyzed separately: those idiopathic etiology, non-idiopathic etiology. assessed using EOSQ-24 completed treatment. Results 91 identified (mean age at index casting: 2.1 ± 1.2 years, mean final removal: 4.1 1.3 years). 59 (64.8%) while 32 (35.2%) 10 congenital, 6 neuromuscular, 16 syndromic. Idiopathic experienced improvement coronal deformity 45° pre-cast 26° post-cast, 59° 34° respectively. decrease baseline nearly all sub-domain scores except general health. Furthermore, even removal cast, etiology suffered residual negative effects emotion transfer sub-domains. Among decreased observed only sub-domains during After brace removal, increased most Discussion can prevent curve correction EOS. However, psychosocial stresses secondary non-operative intervention have significant impacts both course Although experience improved following treatment, do not seem exhibit much years removal.
