摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses neuropharmacological approaches to urinary incontinence (UI). UI occurs when the lower tract does not store urine properly and there is an involuntary loss of urine. There are three types UI: urge, stress, mixed. Urge considered be due overactive bladder, while stress decreased urethral outlet resistance. In urge incontinence, reformulations oxybutynin other muscarinic cholinergic receptor antagonists continue dominate market late stage clinical development programs. Enterprising clinicians have taken matters into their own hands applied off label-use various toxins as they try find remedies for patients, but safe, effective, convenient therapy needed compliment anticholinergics. The describes neural reflex pathways that control storage micturition pharmacological targets drug discovery strategies within context these reflexes. It also elaborates function dysfunction tract, along with sites action inhibition
