摘要: A fibre-optic-based humidity sensor has been developed and used for the measurement of moisture absorption in concrete. The was fabricated using a fibre Bragg grating (FBG) coated with sensitive polymer. To investigate use this sensing technique detection ingress concrete, embedded various concrete samples different water to cement ratios which were then immersed bath. direct indication level within sample is given by shift wavelength caused expansion humidity-sensitive material on fibre. itself exploits inherent characteristics FBG, its operation being based strain effect induced grating, through swelling polymer coating. It found that optical-fibre-based sensors type form basis determining changes content samples, indicating potential new applications system ensure integrity civil engineering structures they are used.
