摘要: The case was examined at the Easter Bush Veterinary Hospital, University of Edinburgh. A 520 kg, 6-year-old Thoroughbred gelding referred for evaluation acute onset profound depression, head pressing, and lack response to external stimuli. horse had a history moderate weight loss over several months despite adequate nutrition good appetite. Previous episodes weakness been observed following administration anthelmintics, namely, alternate doses pyrantel ivermectin, administered every 8 weeks. In an attempt eliminate possible parasitic cause loss, 7 days prior presentation, referring veterinary surgeon treated with 5-day course fenbendazolea (7.5 mg/kg PO q24h) moxidectinb (0.4 PO), 2 later. prednisolonec (1 initiated on same day as fenbendazole. This dose then tapered 0.5 q24h, still being time presentation.
