摘要: Millions of Americans are afflicted by obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Obesity is characterized increased body adiposity leads to insulin resistance. Paradoxically, some conditions that a paucity fat also cause resistance, namely the syndromes lipoatrophy (Fig 1). The resemblance between metabolic abnormalities these two extreme states emphasizes importance tissue in energy homeostasis. This chapter focuses on lipodystrophy at lean spectrum which near-complete absence fat.
