Interactions of Hydration Water and Biological Membranes Studied by Neutron Scattering

摘要: To elucidate general features of structural and dynamical properties hydration water the influence on behavior biomembranes, purple membranes from halobacteria disk bovine retinae have been studied by neutron scattering techniques. Hydrated films oriented multilamellar membrane stacks were used to measure lamellar diffraction patterns quasielastic incoherent as a function level, temperature, protein/lipid ratio. These measurements revealed strong interaction “first layer” with surface reduced self-diffusion aqueous solvent parallel (the coefficient is about 5 times smaller compared excess water).
