摘要: In addition to its well-documented involvement in mineral homeostasis, vitamin D seems have broad effects on human health that go beyond the skeletal system. Prominent among these so-called nonclassical of are immunomodulatory properties. vitro studies shown anti-inflammatory 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin (1,25(OH)2D), active form D. addition, epidemiological analysis patients with established inflammatory disease identified associations between deficiency (low serum concentrations inactive 25-hydroxyvitamin D, abbreviated 25(OH)D) and conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The association RA severity supports hypothesis a role for initiation or progression disease, possibly both. However, whether 25(OH)D status is cause consequence still incompletely understood requires further prospective supplementation trials. characterization factors promote transition from preclinical clinical phases has become major focus research, aim facilitate earlier diagnosis treatment, improve therapeutic outcomes. this Review, we describe current knowledge immune system specifically RA, discuss potential benefits might slowing progression.
