摘要: Purpose: Transpalatal distraction osteogenesis is a bone-borne technique to expand the maxilla and has become routine method in treating patients with transverse maxillary hypoplasia. Limited reports concerning treatment difficulties have been published. The purpose of this study was investigate categorize short- middle-term incidence peri- postoperative (categorized by classification Paley problems, obstacles, complications). signs adverse dental periodontal effects were established at least 1 year after removal distractor. Patients Methods: A total 73 (27 male, 46 female; mean age: 28 years; range: 9-59) that underwent SARPE 3 centers retrospectively investigated. Clinical follow-up performed 63 an average period 23.9 months (range: 6-63 months). Results: Twenty-seven problems (mainly appliance related), 10 obstacles (appliance-related asymmetric expansion), complication (premature loss TPD-module, due lack space, cleft patient) occurred. examination showed minimal damage (gingival recession on 15 sites pocket depths 4-5 mm 11 sites). In 28.6% incisors radiographic external apical root resorption seen. Conclusion: Bone-borne reliable predictable outcomes. These results suggest associated low damage. Nevertheless, further research, preferably randomized controlled design, needed evaluate long-term stability.
