摘要: Purpose of review The paradigm that diseases are either Th1 mediated or Th2 has recently been challenged in a number classical ocular diseases. objective this article is to highlight the importance understanding exact mechanisms and cells pathology allergy. Recent findings Current research cytokines an animal model allergy demonstrates intricate complex regulation by both subsets disease process. prone BALB/c wild type mice sensitized topically with short ragweed for seven consecutive days (multi-hit) developed sustained, chronic conjunctival inflammation. Significantly, IFN-gamma knockout multi-hit antigen challenge had reduced cellular infiltrate. Evaluation adhesion molecules actively regulate infiltration into conjunctiva revealed lack vascular cell molecule-1 mice. Summary studies question Th1/Th2 paradigm. These encourage further interactions inflammatory disease. following components development inflammation associated allergic conjunctivitis will be discussed: T helper inflammation, activation lymph node, role as endothelium gatekeeper Th2-mediated conjunctivitis.
