摘要: Bodies with exotic properties display material substructural complexity from nano to meso-level. Various models have been built up in condensed matter physics represent the behavior of special classes complex bodies. In general, they fall within setting an abstract model building framework which is not only a unifying structure existing but—above all—atool construct new materials. We describe here basic elements this framework, one ofmultifield theories, trying furnish clear idea subtle theoretical and computational problems arising it. present form that allows appropriate algorithms cases physical interest. discuss also issues related construction compatible mixed finite linearized setting, extension extended element methods analyze influnce substructures on crack growth, evolution sharp discontinuity surfaces Concrete examples bodies are presented number details.
