摘要: Abstract Electric birefringence studies of strongly elongated, rod-like particles polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in agarose gels show that the negative effect observed by semi-diluted aqueous suspensions at low frequencies and electric field strengths (the so called “anomaly’) disappears. The absolute value frequency increases 3–4 times amplitude modulation decreases faster compared to suspensions. This together with decreased decay relaxation make possibilty PTFE orientation is not due dipolar but electrophoretic mechanism quite probable. Similar change could be expected also for higher concentrations. further elucidation using fractions lower polydispersity, broader ranges experimental conditions (particle concentration, ionic strength composition, strengths, frequencies, etc.) interest several fields: colloid electro-optics especially concentrated colloids, pulsed gel electrophoresis DNA (and its sinusoidal biased variant) nucleoprotein complexes research.
