摘要: Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is a state-of-the-art technique for administering to cancer patients. The goal of treatment deliver prescribed amount the tumor, while limiting absorbed by surrounding healthy and critical organs. Planning an IMRT requires determining fluence maps, each consisting hundreds or more beamlet intensities. Since it difficult impossible sufficient dose tumor without irradiating nearby organs, oncologists have developed guidelines allow tradeoffs introducing so-called dose-volume constraints (DVCs), which specify given percentage volume organ that can be sacrificed if necessary. Such constraints, however, are combinatorial nature pose significant challenges map optimization problem.
