摘要: This study on wildlife contamination, one to ten months after the polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) fire in St Basile le Grand, Quebec, shows that increased PCB and dibenzofuran (PCDF) levels animals. From data, it was not possible detect a significant increase dibenzodioxin (PCDD) fire. Given relatively small sample size, differences concentrations could be estimated precisely. However, can asserted with 95% confidence level mean of total PCBs were roughly 2 6 times higher area contaminated by plume smoke, homologues 3 chlorine atoms 1 4 higher, 5 9 13 higher. The relative deviations between areas under those outside similar for all animals sampled. With regard PCDFs, significantly smoke than species. observation is linked 4, 7 which detected two areas. had no effect pattern congeners found tissue region. Congeners Nos. 153, 180, 138 118 represent approximately 50% PCBs. Although PCDF local species exposed fire, they nonetheless comparable other urban agricultural Canada. These concentrations, 2,3,7,8-TCDD toxic equivalents, much lower observed wake three major incidents involving PCDDs (Elgin, Florida; Times Beach, Missouri; Seveso, Italy). In first cases, specific deformities toxin, whereas investigators unable establish link pathological lesions rabbit carcasses high their livers. incident little toxicological near site
