摘要: Summary Aboriginal people perceive land and water as equal components of country, hold distinct perspectives on relating to identity attachment place, environmental knowledge, resource security, the exercise custodial responsibilities manage interrelated parts customary estates. This paper documents from certain areas in northern Australia, defined region tropical savannas stretching Townsville Broome, offers a number suggestions for improving current knowledge values participation rates catchment management. The highlights cultural significance rivers selected regions, provides preliminary outline research management priorities determined by key north Australian organizations. Priorities include developing capacity collaborative aquatic management, conservation traditional ecological riparian inventories threat assessment, well improved policy. Although there is strong focus this paper, issues raised are relevant natural policy throughout Australia.
