摘要: Males of Drosophila elegans hold mating territories on individual Ipomoea flowers which remain to open for a single day. Here we investigated daily activity and territoriality this species in Sukarami, Indonesia. Flies both sexes spent the night withered left them from morning evening. As day passed, number flies newly opened (day-O) increas·ed peaked On day-O flowers, males usually held territories, but seemed be unable defend when increased. Territorial were larger than remained day-1 indicating that earlier smaller ones secure flowers. Laboratory experiments confirmed superiority territorial defense. In female, such relation between body size behavior was not observed. evening, became inactive stayed rather still Females laid eggs evening only blooming. The distribution among random.
