摘要: 1. The sensory cells of about 30 hairs (one cell per hair) on the prothoracic basisternum ofLocusta migratoria, which are 500–600 μm long and have a very soft articulation, project to contralateral side ganglion. The fibres run characteristic ganglionic areas: ventral-most ventral association center median tract. 2. A preparation was made allowed stimulation exclusively by air movements produced vibration (near-field loudspeaker) or wind stimuli permitted simultaneous recording from connectives fibres. 3. Impulses within were first elicited step velocity (10 ms rise time) zero 30.6±8.2 mm/s (n=8). spectral threshold curve for showed sensitivity maximum frequency range 80–120 Hz when particle displacement amplitude (pda) 2.5–3.0 plotted versus frequency. 4. Stimulation these excites two interneurons distinguished their amplitudes response characteristics named IN1 IN2. According central nervous projections receptors, they always situated site. 5. The occurred after presentation weak even if only one hair remained intact. It shown physiologically that extends abdominal ganglion brain. For just spikes 27.5 ±6.2 (n=8); this value is not statistically different (P> 0.5,t-test). stimulus intensity in also same as cells. This appears be intact (all others covered with dental wax). 6. The IN2 strong whole field. When spike plotted, most sensitive 100–180 12–14 μm. 203±70 metathoracic suboesophageal at least. 7. In locust fixed flight posture excited flow directed towards head front. In eliciting increased 178±32 (n=5) left situ. If onto field laterally, values (45 50 mm/s) close those found isolated (27.5±6.2 mm/s). Also anterior deflected front leg posture, thus stimulating prosternal interneurons.
