摘要: Abstract Surveys of rural household energy use activities incorporating the production and utilisation woody biomass, forest products industries harvesting, wood processing residues generation, were undertaken to assess availability biomass that could be utilised in biomass-electricity systems Kenya. Government forests not relied upon supply fuelwood decentralised village gasifier installations as they far from main clusters, mostly protected against subsistence harvesting. Although farm forestry on farms areas was assessed well established, standing stock 0.7–4.6 m3 per considered inadequate for continuous operation a downdraft gasifier. The greatest potential at sawmills more than 720 tonnes logs year generating 390 solid year. Each 73 mills this category (medium-large scale) had an annual generate 0.85×106 m3 low heating value gas (4.6 MJ/m3). total 221 million cubic metres (Mm3), equivalent 24,000 oil. up 76 GWh (electric), if part co-generation system, additional 141.4 heat harnessed used timber drying kilns. Factors determine viability are discussed. need demonstration unit installation one is emphasised.
