Developing a multiple-choice discourse completion test of interlanguage pragmatics for Iranian EFL learners

摘要: The researchers in this study developed a Multiple-choice Discourse Completion Test (MDCT) to assess the pragmatic knowledge of Iranian EFL learners relation speech acts request and apology classrooms. development process involved several steps. first step was exemplar generation. Ninety three at two universities Tehran were asked write, either English or Persian, situations which they would apologize. second situation likelihood investigation investigated how far suggested by one likely occur reality. third scenario generation initial piloting. For so doing, generated open ended given group native speakers nonnative intermediate advanced respond situations. fourth included multiple choices. responses previous used as distracters correct options for MDCT items. fifth allocated final piloting confirmed that all chose key most appropriate answer provided.
